Just use the mouse button to lay down a vector. Notice that multiplying a vector by a scalar does not change the direction of the original vector. It still lies on the same line. If the scalar is negative it can point the vector the other way, changing what we call the "sense" of the vector, but not its direction. All that changes is the scale of the vector. Maybe that is why just plain numbers are called scalars in the language of vectors.
